Editorial and Corrections Policy

beyondURdiagnosis provides evidence-informed education for women navigating chronic menstrual-health conditions, including endometriosis, PCOS, adenomyosis, fibroids and unresolved menstrual-health symptoms.

Our aim is to help people understand complex health information, recognise uncertainty, prepare useful questions and participate more confidently in healthcare decisions with qualified clinicians.

We do not provide individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment plans. Our content is educational and should not replace personalised assessment, diagnosis or care from a qualified health professional.

Who creates our content

beyondURdiagnosis was founded by Claire Richardson, an educator with more than 25 years of lived experience navigating complex menstrual-health conditions.

Claire writes and presents much of the platform’s educational content. Her lived experience informs the questions this platform takes seriously: what information is missing, what remains unclear, what may be worth discussing, and how people can prepare for healthcare conversations without feeling rushed or dismissed.

Lived experience is not presented as clinical expertise or proof that one person’s treatment path will be right for another person.

Where content is written, reviewed or contributed to by another person, we aim to identify their role clearly. This may include author, editor, contributor, clinical reviewer or adviser. We do not imply clinical review, clinical endorsement or professional qualifications where these do not exist.

How we research

We aim to use reliable, current and relevant sources for health claims.

Depending on the topic, our research may include:

  • Current clinical guidelines and consensus statements from recognised professional bodies, government health agencies and specialist organisations.

  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

  • Peer-reviewed research.

  • Primary research, where it is relevant and appropriately interpreted.

  • High-quality evidence summaries from reputable health and research institutions.

  • Public-health guidance and Australian care-pathway information where relevant to the audience and topic.

We consider the date, quality, population, methods, limitations, applicability and funding or conflict-of-interest disclosures of a source where these may affect interpretation.

No single study should be treated as final proof. Health research develops over time, and findings from one study may not apply across conditions, populations, health systems or individual circumstances.

How we assess evidence

We do not treat all claims as equally reliable.

When assessing health information, we consider:

  • Whether the source is current and credible.

  • Whether the claim is supported by more than one high-quality source.

  • The type and quality of evidence available.

  • Whether findings are consistent across studies and guidelines.

  • The size and characteristics of the study population.

  • Whether a finding is relevant to a specific condition, symptom, treatment context or life stage.

  • Important limitations, risks, trade-offs and unanswered questions.

  • Whether a claim reflects established evidence, emerging evidence, expert consensus, personal experience, marketing or speculation.

Where possible, we distinguish between:

Evidence Catagory

What it means

Established Evidence

Supported by current guidelines, consistent evidence or broad professional consensus

Emerging Evidence

Promising or relevant research that remains limited, early, mixed or not yet reflected in guidelines

Personal Experience

An individual’s account of what happened to them; valuable for context and validation, but not proof that the same outcome will occur for others

Marketing Claim

A claim made to sell or promote a product, service or intervention; it requires independent scrutiny rather than automatic acceptance

Uncertainty

A question that current evidence cannot answer clearly, consistently or for every individual

We try to state what is known, what remains uncertain, and what questions may be worth discussing with a qualified clinician.

How we handle conflicting evidence

Conflicting information is common in reproductive health. Different studies may examine different populations, outcomes, timeframes, interventions or definitions. Clinical guidelines may also differ between countries or change as evidence develops.

When credible sources conflict, we aim to:

  • Identify that the evidence is mixed, limited or evolving.

  • Avoid presenting one interpretation as settled fact when it is not.

  • Explain the practical reason for the uncertainty where this is useful.

  • Distinguish a promising idea from a proven recommendation.

  • Encourage readers to discuss individual relevance, risks, alternatives and decision factors with an appropriately qualified clinician.

We do not resolve uncertainty by making stronger claims than the evidence supports.

Corrections policy

Accuracy matters. If we make an error, we want to correct it clearly.

If you believe an article, video, newsletter or other beyondURdiagnosis resource contains incorrect, misleading, outdated or unclear information, please check for the Corrections Form at the bottom of the article or contact us at:

[email protected]

Please include:

  • The page or content title.

  • The URL, if relevant.

  • The specific statement you are concerned about.

  • A brief explanation of the issue.

  • Any relevant source, guideline or evidence you believe we should review.

We will assess credible correction requests as promptly as practical. Depending on the issue, we may:

  • Correct the content.

  • Add clarification or context.

  • Add, replace or update a source.

  • Add an update note.

  • Remove content that is no longer appropriate.

  • Explain why no change was made.

For substantive factual corrections, we will aim to make the correction visible rather than silently changing the content.

Advertising, sponsorship, and affiliate relationships

beyondURdiagnosis currently has no advertising, sponsorship, or affiliate relationships and is completely independent. If viewing our video content on YouTube, any advertising is generated by that platform without any input from or benefit to beyondURdiagnosis.

To be clear, we do not and will not accept payment in exchange for:

  • Favourable health claims.

  • Undisclosed promotion.

  • Claims that a product, service or intervention diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents a condition without appropriate evidence.

  • Recommendations that are inconsistent with our education-first and evidence-informed standards.

Use of artificial intelligence

We may use artificial-intelligence tools for administrative support, brainstorming, structural assistance, transcription, editing or early drafting.

AI tools are not treated as authoritative medical sources.

Published health claims are independently checked against original research, current clinical guidance or other authoritative sources before publication. We do not rely on AI-generated citations, summaries or claims without verification.

AI does not replace editorial judgement, source checking, clinical review where applicable, or responsibility for the final published content.

We do not use AI to provide individual diagnosis, treatment recommendations or personalised medical advice.

Your role in using our content

Our content is intended to help you understand information and prepare for conversations about your care. It is not a substitute for personalised clinical assessment.

If you have urgent, severe, new or worsening symptoms, or you are concerned about your immediate safety, seek urgent medical care or contact an appropriate local emergency service.

For non-urgent questions about your symptoms, diagnosis, tests, treatment options or next steps, consider discussing them with a qualified clinician who can assess your individual circumstances.
